The first of it’s kind in Edinburgh – a tour of the historical coffee trade in Scotland! Learn about the coffee trade in Edinburgh, the stories of mad owners and quirky regulars of the coffee houses, and finish the adventure with a coffee in the back rooms of what was once John’s Coffee House – where philosophers, pirates, and prosecutors alike would meet and share a coffee or dram.
On this tour, we’ll spend half of the time outside, exploring the Closes and Wynds of Edinburgh, hunting down the sites of the historical coffee houses destroyed by fire or changing business over the centuries, and learning about the origins of coffee.
We’ll spend the second half of the tour in our very unique underground venue – at one time a bank, then a prison, and home to one of the most prestigious coffee houses in 18th Century Edinburgh – John’s Coffee House. Here, we’ll drink coffee, and hear more about the
