The Scran and Scallie

                        

The Scran and Scallie is Michelin starred chef Tom Kitchin’s sister restaurant to The Kitchin. The menu caters to a variety of tastes and the atmosphere is lovely and warm. Service is great and the staff are so welcoming and attentive. I personally loved the half lobster starter and the steak pie main. Price of my recommendations are £21 for the lobster and £17.50 for the steak pie. The featured image is also a dish served at The Scran and Scallie. Whilst it isn’t the cheapest bistro you could go to, the quality speaks for itself. 

 

The Stockbridge Kitchen

               

                                       

The Stockbridge Kitchen offers the best freshly baked cakes in Edinburgh and I cannot recommend it enough. The staff are so nice and friendly, and the portion sizes are huge so you will definitely be full after it. The soup is always fresh and so tasty, but my personal favourite is the massive slice of classic victoria sponge cake that I get every time I pop in.

 

Hamilton’s Bar and Kitchen

                                    

Hamilton’s Bar and Kitchen has a great atmosphere with such kind and attentive staff. The food is great and reasonably priced. My personal favourite was the waffles with bacon, syrup and peanut butter which not only tasted fantastic but was also beautifully presented. The space was so comfortable and I always have a lovely leisurely meal whenever I go. It is also a great place to catch up over a coffee with friends.

 

Herbies / IJ Mellis Cheesemongers / George Mewes Cheese

                                                

I can’t choose between the delis so they’re all in my top recommendations. If you love cheese, you definitely need to explore Mellis or Mewes. The staff are really knowledgeable and will help you make the best selection for your night in. Herbies has the best chicken liver parfait, some amazing chutneys and great bread too.

                            

To top off your smorgasbord of cheese, bread and pate, head along to Raeburn Fine Wines and let the staff recommend a belter of a wine and if you feel like taking the remainder of your evening outside, pop along to Smith & Gertrude on Hamilton Place for delicious wines and a relaxed atmosphere.
