Perth – based business Joelato, owned by couple Jose and Lucie.
Recently opened a second business in Edinburgh at North West Circus Place (and the first is based at Bonnie & Wild in the St James Quarter)
A small gelateria that offers brilliantly tasting, handmade gelato.
The key is the texture, it’s incredibly smooth
There are different flavours every day with a lot of variety and interesting choices.
Worthwhile asking to try some of the unusual flavours to see if something takes your fancy!
Bon Bon Galeteria | 65 Elm Row, Edinburgh 
Open 1pm – 6 pm  Wednesday-Sunday (Closed on Monday and Tuesday) 
Serving up homemade Italian gelato for those with a sweet tooth to dine in or take away.
Bon Bon’s ice cream, milkshakes, cakes and waffles have proved a hit with the locals!
If you are interested in “authentic Italian gelato” this is the best place to go! Highly recommended! Pistachio, cherry, rum and raisin and coffee are my favourite flavours! Generous portions and fair prices!

Artisan Gelato | 21 Cockburn St, Edinburgh 

Open 9 am – 4 pm  Wednesday-Sunday (Closed on Monday and Tuesday) 

A menu featuring classic & creative gelato flavours, plus baked goods, in a modern, rustic space.
Relaxed stylish seating with really friendly staff!

Mary’s Milk Bar | 19 Grassmarket, Edinburgh

Open 11-7 pm Wednesday-Sunday (Closed on Monday and Tuesday) 

It is one of the best gelateria and Chocolaterie in Edinburgh. (or maybe even in Scotland?)
Chef and Owner Mary Hillard studied the art of gelato at the prestigious Carpigiani Gelato University in Bologna, Italy, before opening her own shop in Edinburgh.
Retro-style ice cream parlour offers homemade gelato (and delicious hot chocolate).

Flavours are quirky (fried bananas in butter, drunk prunes in amaretto, earl grey tea and much more) and change every day as they are handmade the night before.

Don’t be put off if there’s a long queue around the block – is worth the wait! And while you waiting, you can admire the castle just in front of the parlour!

 


MOO PIE Gelato | 26 St Mary’s St, Edinburgh  

Open 12-6 pm Thursday – Sunday (Closed Monday – Wednesday) 

One of the most delicious ice creams in Edinburgh.  

The gelato is a small batch churned in house using the best local ingredients. Flavours change regularly so always something delicious to choose from – recommend following them on Instagram to get a sneak peek at the flavours of the day… The gelato is always smooth, creamy, and melt-in-your-mouth

Must try:  

Cookie sandwich: Caramel apple soft serve in-between two chewy brown butter and cinnamon cookies topped with salted caramel.  


Smoov Gelato Coffee | 244 Canongate, Edinburgh 

Open daily 11 – 6 pm  

Best place for fresh gelato, homemade waffle and delicious coffee.  

If you are strolling the Royal Mile, you must take a break at this amazing ice cream shop. 

Exceptional flavours and serve generous quantities at good prices. 

Offers great gluten-free options too!

Over Langshaw Farmhouse Ice Cream | Police Box 

Situated at the bottom of Victoria Street Old Town, Edinburgh 

Probably the Smallest Ice Cream Parlour in the world! 

Snug “police box” counter-they have an organic dairy farm where they make their own ice cream, and they have a great variety of flavours 


 

Alandas Gelato | 1 Forrest Rd, Edinburgh, EH12QH | Just across from the Greyfriars Bobby Statue 

Open daily 11am – 10pm
