The restaurant is spotlessly clean with beautiful decor, and a lovely atmosphere. The staff are very accommodating, keen to answer any questions and always so friendly. They use delicious and fresh ingredients to create mouthwatering dishes. Beautifully cooked seafood that’s full of flavour. You can never go wrong with the native lobster on the dinner menu for £30 served with smoked butter sauce. By far THE best lobster I’ve ever tried! ALL the desserts are outstanding but my personal favourite is the treacle tart for £6 served with cornish clotted cream. If you’re a seafood lover looking for a nice restaurant in Old Town Edinburgh, Ondine Restaurant is definitely the one for you.

David Bann offers an extensive menu of delicious vegetarian and vegan options. All the food is of great quality and is definitely one of the best places in Edinburgh to enjoy vegetarian dishes. The service is fantastic as all the staff are so friendly and professional. They manage to be efficient and attentive without being obtrusive. The food is all beautifully cooked and presented, and reasonably priced. It’s all full of flavour and there’s a wonderful array to choose from. I would recommend the roasted cauliflower, potato and chickpea curry as a main for £13.50 which is not only delicious but also filling, served alongside a sweet potato fritter, homemade flatbread, tomato chutney and mint raita.

Opening Hours: Monday – Sunday 12pm~23:30
The beautiful interior at The Witchery creates such a lovely atmosphere. It definitely is a rather pricey meal out, especially if you’re going at dinner time, but the light lunch set with an appetizer and main course for only £25 is great value for money. The staff are so attentive and patient, making the experience all the more enjoyable. The cocktails are brilliant and all the food is full of flavour. The steak tartare starter on the dinner menu is sublime and the grilled spring lamb would be one of my top recommendations for a main course.

Simply put, THE best Indian food I’ve ever tasted! The food is exceptional – amazing flavours, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The staff are great too. Attentive, efficient, friendly and always willing to provide support. The most flavoursome curry in Edinburgh in my opinion. The spiced haddock starter for £7.50 is divine and perfectly cooked. The Lamb Musallam & Crispy Ladyfingers for £14.50 is another top recommendation bursting with flavour! All in All, the food, service, location and staff are all phenomenal and I would give it a 10!

Opening Hours: Closed Monday – Wednesday
Thursday 17:00~21:45 / Friday – Sunday 12pm~21:45
The quality of food and service here for its price point is exceptional and offers great value. The only slight criticism in my opinion is that the portion sizes aren’t the biggest. The wine selection is great and the staff are very efficient and knowledgeable which makes the experience all the more enjoyable. One of my personal favourite starters is the parma ham, mozzarella and rocket salad with balsamic vinaigrette, whilst the haggis neeps and tatties would definitely be my top pick for mains and is served with the most amazing whisky sauce. Angels with Bagpipes provides a “wonderful taste of Scotland”. Due to the portion sizes, I would especially recommend visiting at lunch time as they offer a great lunch deal of 3 courses for only £15.50.

I cannot recommend La Locanda enough – it’s a must visit if you’re looking for restaurants in Old Town Edinburgh. All the meals are top notch but the atmosphere of the restaurant and excellent service is the icing on the cake. It’s such a charismatic, family run restaurant and all the staff are so attentive and welcoming, which adds to the experience. I had the homemade traditional lasagne for £15.50 which was absolutely fantastic. So flavoursome and freshly cooked. Their special homemade cheesecake is to die for but my absolute favourite dessert would have to be the Italian classic – Chef Romano’s Homemade Tiramisu served with fresh mascarpone cream & coffee liqueur for £8.90.

Absolutely fantastic food and service. Gorgeous local ingredients and knowledgeable and helpful staff. The Sound of Kilbrannan scallops starter for £13.50 are sublime and perfectly cooked. The staff are all wonderful and go out of their way to accommodate your every need, which is so lovely and helps to create the best dining experience. Small, cozy little restaurant with beautiful decor and a nice atmosphere. The lamb loin main for £27.50 is admittedly quite pricey but absolutely delicious. All the meals are beautifully presented and very tasty. The bitter chocolate mousse served with fennel seed biscuit and sweet cicely sea-salt ice cream for £7.95 is by far the most amazing dessert I have ever had in my life. Definitely recommend you pay a visit.
